This has been quite a big surprise for the cricket fans that why the developed nation like Spain, France, USA, Germany and many others of them are not developed in “The game of the Gentlemen”, The Cricket. But few of us are aware about all of these countries have their own national cricket team and they are affiliated as the “Associate member” in ICC. You can know more about the USA and American Samoa in my previous articles too. So now we will talk about the development and cricket culture in one of the greatest countries in history- Germany.
Germany has played their first-ever international cricket match in 1989 Against Denmark as West Germany. In 1990, they made their first international tournament debut at the European Cricketer Cup in Guernsey. In 1996, Germany has hosted this cup (Presently known as European Nations Cup) which they have finished as runner up. They have lost to France by only 1 run in the final which is quite a disaster for them. They have become an associate member of ICC in 1998. In 2001, Germany has played their first and only ICC tournament 2001 ICC trophy for the qualification in the World Cup 2003. And this is their greatest achievement in cricket till now.
